Jerret Smith is Gone

Jerret Smith has been kicked off the basketball team because of academic issues. Smith has not been with the team since they made the trip to Duke in late November. This decision by the coaching staff further depletes the roster, as there are now only eight scholarship players on the team. I would not expect there to be much of a transition as they have been practicing and playing without Smith for over a month. Jerret must not have been serious about playing basketball at Michigan because the coaching staff gave him plenty of time to turn his grades around. The transfer of Laval Lucas-Perry really helps now because the backcourt is very thin.
